Mrs. William Matthews aged 44, of 76 North Cumberland street, died in the Greene County Memorial Hospital at 9 a.m. yesterday, May 28, 1941. In failing health for several years, the deceased was seriously ill only a few days before her death.
A daughter of Jefferson Wright, deceased, and Margaret Glover Wright, who survives, Mrs. Matthews was born at Earnshaw, W. Va., on January 4, 1897. She was a member of the Christian Church at Mobley, W.Va.
Survivors include her mother, her husband and the following children, Milford Matthews, now with Company K at Indiantown Gap; Mrs. Margaret Vandruff, Waynesburg; Bettie, Iva Lee, Billie Ray, and Marion, all at home. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. Amanda Snodgrass and Mrs. Mary Snodgrass, both of Princeton, W. Va.; Mrs. Earnest Toothman, Mrs. Lillie Wright, Mrs. Laura Fluharty and Clark and Odrey Wright, all of Wadestown and Ray Wright, Pine Grove.
MATTHEWS - Funeral services for Mrs. William Matthews will be held from her late home, 76 North Cumberland street, at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 30, in charge of the Rev. Leroy S. Cass. Interment will be in the Core, W. Va., cemetery. C. W. Parkinson is in charge of arrangements.
