U.S. Congressman. He attended Princeton College, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1821 and commenced to practice law in Georgetown, Delaware. In 1855, he was elected as the candidate of the American Party to the Thirty-fourth Congress, serving until 1857. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 62.
