US Congressman. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he graduated from St. Mary’s College in 1808, studied law but did not practice. He settled on a farm on West River and returned to Baltimore, in 183. Then he served as the judge of the orphans’ court, was a director of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Company and the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Company. In 1839, he was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-sixth Congress, serving until 1841. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he retired from political life and died in Baltimore, Maryland, at age 81.
