U.S. Congressman. He moved to New Hampshire in 1769, engaged in agricultural pursuits, was town clerk and justice of the peace, for the town of Hanover. In addition, he was Hanover executive councilor, (1789-97), a member of the New Hampshire State House of Representatives, (1787-89), served in the New Hampshire State Senate, (1789-94) and a member of the New Hampshire State council. In 1797, he was elected as a Federalist to the Fifth and Sixth Congresses, serving until 1801. After his term, he resumed his agricultural pursuits until his death at age 63.
