U.S. Congressman. He studied medicine, graduated from Dartmouth Medical School in 1815 and commenced the practice of medicine in Hebron, New Hampshire, in 1818. He was a fellow of the New Hampshire Medical Society in 1824 and a member of the New Hampshire State Senate in 1831. In 1833, he was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth Congresses, serving until 1837. After his term, he continued the practice of medicine until his death at age 73.
