Elizabeth Belle (Eddingfield) Speck, 92, died Sunday (July 20, 2003) at Hospice of St. John in Lakewood, Colo., of lymphoma cancer. Elizabeth was born April 29, 1911, to Howard Ellis and Elinor Elizabeth (Law) Eddingfield near Brady.

Elizabeth grew up in Brady and graduated from Brady High School in 1928. After graduation, she taught school for seven years in the rural school districts of Lincoln County.

On Dec. 21, 1935, she married Eugene Speck of Ingham. The couple made their home in the area of Ingham and Moorefield. In 1942, the family moved to Holdrege and in 1949, the family moved to Benkelman. In 1963, she became employed with Dundy County Hospital until her retirement in 1976. In November 2002, she moved to Kenneth C. Stout Assisted Living at the Hester Memorial Home in Benkelman.

Elizabeth was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gene in 1963.

Survivors are: daughters, Glenda Haack and husband, Marland Ray of Mead, Wash., and Marilyn Dobrowski and husband, Ray of Littleton, Colo.; son, Miles Speck of Thornton, Colo., step-sisters, Bette Conroy and husband, Paul of Oconto and Gwendolyn Pitney and husband, Kenneth of Bonita, Calif.; sister-in-law, Meredith Speck of Raymond, Ore.; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Interment was in Benkelman Cemetery, Benkelman, NE.
