PROVIDENCE -- Eugene "Geno" Ross, 73, Providence, died Thursday, Aug. 25, in Henderson.
He graduated from Rosenwald High School in Providence and worked as a coal miner until ill health forced his retirement in 1975. He was a member and deacon of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Providence and a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Michele McElroy; two sons, Keith Hawkins and Eugene Ross Jr; and by his parents, Carl and Fannie Ross.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; five daughters, Charlotte Ross of Lexington and Allison Hawkins, Helen Bussell, Nycole Ross and Brooke Ross, all of Providence; three sons, Robert McElroy and Tre Wright of Providence and Phillip Fraizer of Valdosta, Ga.; two brothers, George Ross of St. Louis and Carl Ross Jr. of Evansville; 20 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Providence. The Rev. Bobby Hawkins will officiate. Interment will be in Cumberland Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
Jones & Erdman Funeral Home in Providence is in charge of arrangements.
