U.S. Congressman. He attended the Cooperstown Seminary, the New Berlin Academy, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1871 and practiced law in Cooperstown, New York. He was clerk of Otsego County, (1881-84) and supervisor of Otsego, (1884-90). In 1891, he was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-second Congress, serving until 1893. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he served as the vice president of the Second National Bank of Cooperstown, until his death.
