Ferdinand Popp,the son of Johann and Juditha Christ Popp,was born in Heinzendorf,Moravia,Austria on September 23,1861.He immigrated to America in 1884 with his mother,two brothers and three sisters on the ship "Elbe".He arrived in New York and traveled by train to Schulenburg,Texas,where he settled.

He applied for citizenship through the Fayette County courthouse on July 20,1887.After fulfilling the required years of residence,he re-filed for naturalization through the Colorado County courthouse on March 25,1895.His application was later processed and approved by the courts on September 25,1906,and he finally was a naturalized citizen of the United States.

On January 5,1886,Ferdinand married Mary Schneider,the daughter of Joseph Schneider and Tharasia Schenk,who had emigrated from Austria to the United States in 1875.They settled in High Hill where their first child was born.They later moved to Schulenburg and made many friends.In 1895,they moved to Nada,moving several times before finally settling,in 1904,on the black land farm where they lived until their retirement in 1938,at which time they returned to Schulenburg.

Ferdinand was a very successful businessman and farmer.Throughout his lifetime he became the owner of properties in Schulenburg,Vox Populi,Garwood,and Nada.During this time he continued to send money to his relative back in his homeland in Europe.

Ferdinand and Mary Popp were German-speaking,and active members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nada.They had 15 children.

On March 20,1941 at the age of 79,Ferdinand died in his home in Schulenburg.Mary moved back to the homestead in Nada,where soe of her children still lived.She continued cooking,sewing,and quilting until her death on January 29,1956 at the age of 88.Both are buried at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Nada.
