U.S. Congressman. Born in New York City, he graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy New Hampshire, studied law, was admitted to the bar and practiced law in Saratoga County, New York. In 1840, he was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-sixth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Anson Brown, serving until 1841. After his term, he resumed the practice of law; trustee of the village of Waterford, New York, until his death at age 70, at Saratoga Springs, New York.
