Carole Sue Massengill was born on January 4, 1942, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to James Loren and Bertha June (Sebastian) England. She departed this life on Monday, September 12, 2011, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 69 years, 8 months, and 8 days.

Carole grew up and attended schools in Denver, Colorado. On March 24, 1962, in Miami, Oklahoma, Carol Sue England and Raymond "Tuffy" Clyde Massengill were united in marriage. "Tuffy" preceded his wife in death on July 16, 1992. The couple had been married for over 30 years.

Carole had lived in Pryor for the past 4 years, but had been a resident of Locust Grove for over 30 years. She had spent some time in Catoosa, moving to Oklahoma from Denver, Colorado. She had been a part of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Locust Grove for many years and was most known for her years working at Charlie's In-N-Out Store in Locust Grove. Carole was called "Momma" by many of her customers and will be remembered for her headbands that she wore.

She enjoyed reading, sewing and embroidery work. Carole was also a very good cook, making some of the best desserts ever tasted. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden. She also loved canning the vegetables she grew. Carole was a very good seamstress and above all, treasured the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by: 1 son: Jim Massengill and wife Suzy of Lakewood, Colorado; 1 daughter: Susan Simpson of Pryor, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren: Michael Simpson, Raymond Simpson, Scott Simpson, Jazmyn Ewing, Sarah Couch and husband Corey, Hayley Garner, Robbie Nezvensky, Adam Nezvensky, and Melissa Nezvensky; 3 great grandchildren: Ariel and Riley Couch, and Michael Nezvensky, with one more on the way; 1 sister: Susan Petrocco and husband David of Brighton, Colorado; 2 aunts: Norma Miller of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jackie England of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 2 nephews: David Petrocco Jr. and Joe Petrocco, both of Brighton, Colorado; 1 niece: Julie Marroni of Brighton, Colorado; Longtime friend: Charlie Keene of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; Numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Carole was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; and 1 daughter: Carrie Rae Herrington.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, September 16, 2011, at the Lighthouse Assembly of God in Locust Grove. Charlie Keene and Raymond Simpson will officiate. Burial will follow at McClain Cemetery in Locust Grove. Services have been entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
