Croatian Poet and Statesman. Was the first non-aristocrat to serve as Ban of Croatia for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He was also the author of highly-regarded Croatian epic poetry. Mazuranic is perhaps best known for his promotion of Croatian national institutions, including the University of Zagreb.
