FORMER CIVIC LEADER, 83, OF TROPIC DIES

Ole Ahlsrom, 83, active in Garfield County civic affairs many years, died at his Sandy residence Thursday at 8:30 a.m. of ailments incident to age.

He was a sheep and cattle raiser in Garfield County. Mr. Ahlstrom was Justice of the Peace at Tropic, Deputy Sheriff and from 1909 to 1917 was a County Commissioner. He was a member of the Garfield County School Board many years, during which time the first high school was built at Panguitch. The school at Tropic was constructed during his tenure on the school board.

BORN AT EPHRAIM
Mr. Ahlstrom was born Feb. 21, 1864, at Ephraim, Sanpete County, a son to Peter and Mary Larsen Ahlstrom. He lived most of his life at Tropic, engaging in raising stock until he retired and moved to Sandy in 1924.

He married Elizabeth Jane Stewart at Tropic Jan. 29, 1895. She died Jan. 7, 1947.

Surviving are two sons, Ray Ahlstrom, Salt Lake City, and Bland Ahlstrom, Sandy; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Winn, Salt Lake City; Melba and Vie Ahlstrom and Mrs. Maurine Umland, San Francisco, and Mrs. Velma Leashing, New York City; two brothers, Delbert and Frank Ahlstrom, Provo; three half sisters, Mrs. Melinda Luke, Wyoming; Mrs. Matilda Buchanan, Manti; Mrs. Geneva Buchanan, Chesterfield, Sanpete county; three half brothers, William A. Ahlstrom, Idaho; Victor P. Ahlstrom, Salt Lake City; Rufus Ahlstrom, Manti; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

RITES SET SATURDAY
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in Sandy. First Ward chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will be in Sandy City Cemetery.

Friends may call at 36 E. 7th South Friday and until 9 a.m. Saturday, and at the home in Sandy Saturday from 10 a.m. to time of funeral.
