WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Goldie Catherine Palmer Covalt, 88, formerly of Great Cove Road and Pine Ridge Assisted Living, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.

Born Dec. 13, 1913, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Jobe and Bertha Shaw Hill.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Neil Palmer, in 1957. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Merrill Covalt, on Feb. 27, 2001.

She attended West View School.

She was formerly employed by Jacobs Brothers Inc. in Hancock, and by Ross Garments in Hagerstown as a seamstress.

She was the tax collector and auditor for Bethel Township, Pa., for 13 years. She was a mail carrier.

She was a member of Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by four sons, Glen Palmer and Lynn Palmer, both of Warfordsburg, Stanley Palmer of McConnellsburg, Pa. and Ray Palmer of Greencastle, Pa.; three stepdaughters, Amy Jo Norton of Pottersdale, Pa., Dolly Weingart of Torrington, Conn. and Sue Green of Millheim, Pa.; two stepsons, Tony Covalt of Millheim and Mark Covalt of Greencastle; two sisters, Ada Golden of Warfordsburg and Gladys Orndorf of Homewood at Williamsport; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
