Maine records state that he came over on the ship"Chandler" from England and settled in Falmouth,Cumberland Co.,Me. at Black Cove. There might be some cofusion here because chandler is a trade.A ship chandler is a person who supplies goods for ships.
Nicholas is the son of Abraham and Mary(Unk.) Rideout of Shaftbury,Kent,England.In 1730 Nicholas married Mary Hunt Ingersoll of Gloucester,Essex Co.,Ma.She is the daughter of Benjamin Ingersoll and Mary Hunt.They are parents of fourteen children,all born in Falmouth,Cumberland,ME.

***There is a comment that must be made and that is: This cemetery doesn't exsist in any Falmouth records and this is from the Falmouth Historical Society. When Falmouth was settled it was in a 80 square mile radis and although it was refered to as Falmouth it did consist of Portland and about four other communities that made up the Falmouth area. I strongly believe that the Rideouts were ship wainwrights etc so they did settled in Black Cove,which became part of Portland. Therefore I believe they are all interned in Eastern Cemetery in Portland....LHG.
