But in 1997, he obtained world reputation with his participation on album "Buena Vista Social Club" by Ry Cooder, that obtained a Grammy. He is remembered for his songs "Fidelidad," "La Negra Tomasa," "Chan Chan," and "Huellas del Pasado."
