Mary Jo Norland Teisher, born April 17, 1934, of Del Mar, California, died Thursday morning, July 24, 2003.
She was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and taught kindergarten for many years.
She moved to San Diego in 1962, and lived in Del Mar since 1966. Mrs. Teisher was a weekly reader and storyteller at the Del Mar Library for many years and was a frequent volunteer for the Del Mar School District.
She was also a teacher at Montessori School in Solana Beach from the early 80's to the late 90's and a 36-year member of the St. James Catholic Church community.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Arthur R. Teisher, 71; and sons, Arthur R. Teisher Jr., 35, and Michael C. Teisher, 33. In addition she is survived by daughter-in-law Christen Teisher, 35, three grandchildren Griffin Teisher, 6, Holland Teisher, 3, and Lilly Teisher, 1; sister and brother-in-law Judith and Larry Baker of San Diego and brother and sister-in-law Tom and Jackie Norland of Illinois. Visitation will be held on Sunday night, July 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Encintias Chapel, 340 Melrose Ae., Encintias, Calif. Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 625 S. Nardo, Solana Beach, California on Monday, July 28, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road in San Diego, California.
