Walter W. Cirks, 79, of Ada died Wednesday, April 18, 1990, at Park Rapids. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church of Ada, with Rev. Earl Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Ada Municipal Cemetery.

He was born Oct. 18, 1910, in Winchester Township near Ada, the son of Harm and Minnie (Sherf) Cirks. He attended rural schools in Winchester Township.

On March 25, 1935, he married Elaine Rehder at Ada. The couple farmed in Mary Township for 22 years before moving to Akeley to manage the creamery there. In 1966, the couple began managing the Elizabeth Creamery and worked there until their retirement in 1975, when they moved to Ada. Mr. Cirks worked on a farm part time there and did some house painting.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; a daughter, Gloria Skalsky of Farmington; two sons, Dennis of Crookston and Gary of Arden Hills; a brother, Enno of Nevis; three sisters, Viola Berglind, Anna Balzum and Elsie Starkweather, all of Ada; 11 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Visitation is today (Friday) from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Fredrikson Funeral Home of Ada and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
