Born in San Potito di Lugo, Ravenna, Italy, Monsignor Clemente Faccani entered the Diocesan Seminary of Faenza at the early age of 10, and was ordained to the priesthood by Monsignor Paolino Giovanni Tribbioli, Bishop of Imola, on April 10, 1943. After briefly serving as vice-parish at San Giacomo di Lugo, he entered the Pontificia Aaccademia Ecclesiastica, joining the diplomatic corps of the Holy See in 1955, after earning a doctorate in both canon and civil laws.

Along the years, he rendered services in various Apostolic Nunciatures across Guatemala, Costa Rica, China, Belgium, Australia, Papua New Guinea, the United States of America and Kenya.

Aged 62, Monsignor Faccani was appointed Apostolic Pro-Nuncio to Kenya by Pope John Paul II, receiving his episcopal consecration with the Titular Archbishopric See of Serra on September 3, 1983, from Cardinal Agostino Casaroli, assisted by then Archbishops Achille Silvestrini and Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy inside the church of San Francesco di Paola of Lugo.

Named Apostolic Pro-Nuncio to Seychelles on February 7, 1985, Archbishop Faccani retired from office on December 31, 1995. After a period of sojourn at the Domus Sanctae Marthae inside the Vatican City, he moved to the Casa del Clero of Imola due to health reasons in 2006. Transferred to the Clinica Toniolo of Bologna in his last weeks, Archbishop Faccani passed away in the early hours of Thursday, September 15, 2011, aged 90. Faccani was laid out in state at the Church of Santa Maria dei Servi, adjacent to the Casa del Clero of Imola. Funeral Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral of San Cassiano, Imola, on Monday, September 19, at 10.30 am., presided by Archbishop Giovanni Tonucci, Prelate of Loreto.

Following the celebration of the Requiem Mass, Faccani was transferred to the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Molino, Lugo, for a Prayer Vigil. In accordance with his wishes, Faccani was interred at the Cimitero della Madonna del Molino in Lugo di Romagna, where all the members of his family lie buried.
