Leon W. Hughes of Florence passed away into God's loving and eternal care on Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at home. He was 88.
Born in Florence, he was a lifelong Florence resident. Mr. Hughes was a retired purchasing agent for Griffin Pipe Co. in Florence, where he worked for 35 years.
He served during World War II with the U.S. Army. He was a life member of Florence American Legion Post 194. He was also a member of the Beverly-Riverside Lodge 107, F&AM.
He was husband of the late Jean E. (Dieterich) Hughes for 67 years.
Leon is survived by a son, Leon C. 'Lonny' Hughes (Kathy), and a daughter, Patricia Ledford (Paul), all of Florence. He is also survived by two grandchildren, George C. Ford III of Bensalem, Pa. and Sheldis Hewish (Edward) of Egg Harbor, N.J., and two great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Eddie Hewish.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burlington.
