U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the Chicago Manual Training School in 1897 and from the South Dakota School of Mines Rapid City, in 1904. He was a member of the South Dakota National Guard, (1901-04) and moved to Ludering, Nevada, in 1907. In addition, Nevada, he was a mining engineer-superintendent of mines in Idaho, Utah, Arizona and Montana. During World War I, he served as a Captain in the Engineers Corps, U.S. Army. After the war, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-seventh Congress, served (1921-23), reelected Sixty-ninth Congress and to the next three succeeding Congresses, serving (1925-33). After leaving Congress, he was a delegate to the Republican National Conventions, (1928, 32) and resumed his mining interest. While in Reno, Nevada, he went to receive medical treatment and passed away suddenly at age 55.
