US Congressman. He graduated from New York University in 1925 and New York Law School in 1927, afterwards practicing law in New York City. A Democrat, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1937 to 1944 and the New York State Senate from 1945 until 1949. Dollinger was elected to the US House in 1948 and was reelected five times, serving from January, 1949 until resigning December 31, 1959, and rose to become the second ranking Democrat on the Interstate and Foreign Commerce Committee. He left the House after winning election as District Attorney of Bronx County, where he served from 1960 to 1968. He was a Delegate to the 1956 and 1960 Democratic National Conventions. As District Attorney Dollinger investigated and prosecuted Mafia crimes and political corruption, which aided in his 1968 Dollinger election to the New York Supreme Court, where he served from January, 1969 until December, 1975. In retirement he resided in New York City, and later relocated to White Plains.
