Mrs. Theresa Hansen, for more than twenty years of this city, passed away at the house of her daughter, Mrs. Ernest J. Ford, 210 South Elliot Street, at 8:40 o’clock Saturday evening. She had been ill for about a year, and had been confined to her be for two weeks before the end. The cause of death was pernicious enemia.
Mrs. Hansen was born of German parents in Alsace, France, June 7, 1859, and at the time of passing she was 65 years, 5 months and 8 days old. She came to this country 53 years ago and to Kewanee 22 years ago. For the past eight years she had made her home with her only daughter, Mrs. Ernest J. Ford.
In September, 1883, she was united in marriage to Louis Fortman, who died June, 1887. Three children were born to this union, including Elvis Fortman, Albert Fortman and Frances, now Mrs. Ernest J. Ford, all of this city.
In September, 1889,Mrs. Fortman was united in marriage to Chris Hansen, who passed away April 18, 1896. Two children were born to this second marriage, Joseph Hansen, of this city, and Leonard Hansen, who preceded his mother in death. Mrs. Hansen is also survived by three brothers, Louis Seyller, John Seyller and George Seyller, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Seyller Vogel, all of Burlington, Ill. Three sisters and two brothers preceded Mrs. Hansen in death.
Mrs. Hansen was a member of Visitation Church and of the Alter and Rosary Society. Also of the Royal Neighbors and the Women’s Catholic Oder of Foresters.
The funeral service will be held at Visitation Church at 9 o’clock Tuesday morning and burial will be in the family lot in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
