Margaret Klingler Ammons, 86, passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011. A longtime resident of Fort Worth, she had lived in Plano since 2006. Memorial service: 2:30 p.m. Monday at Ridglea United Methodist Church, Fort Worth. Interment: 1:30 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 12:30 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Ridglea United Methodist Church, 6036 Locke Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76116, or the Janice C. Margaret Ammons passed away Thursday following a lengthy battle with cancer that confined her to her bed only in her final days. As recently as July, she had gathered her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren around her for a week at the Florida beach.
Born Margaret Virginia Klingler on March 1, 1925, in Southard, Okla., to Frank and Alice Klingler, she spent most of her childhood in Sweetwater before moving with her family to Washington state, where she graduated from high school. She completed nurses' training at Tacoma General Hospital and became a registered nurse, an occupation she returned to in Texas before and after raising her children. She retired from Cook Children's Hospital in 1979. Margaret married Ernest Edward Ammons on Sept. 5, 1946, in Lyons, Colo., and celebrated 57 years of marriage prior to his death in 2004. She also was preceded in death by their daughter, Janice Claire, and great grandson, Miles Jonathan Mitchell. A member of Ridglea United Methodist Church since 1954, she engaged enthusiastically in service to her church and Lord, and in the activities of her five children. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend.
Survivors: Daughter, Lynn Surovik of Plano; three sons, David of Chapel Hill, N.C., John of Dallas, and Phillip of Benton, A.R.; their spouses, Mike, Cindy, Kathy, and Kay; sister, Mildred of California; 10 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
