She retired from Cook Children's Hospital in 1979. Margaret married Ernest Edward Ammons on Sept. 5, 1946, in Lyons, Colo., and celebrated 57 years of marriage prior to his death in 2004. She also was preceded in death by their daughter, Janice Claire, and great grandson, Miles Jonathan Mitchell. A member of Ridglea United Methodist Church since 1954, she engaged enthusiastically in service to her church and Lord, and in the activities of her five children. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend.

Survivors: Daughter, Lynn Surovik of Plano; three sons, David of Chapel Hill, N.C., John of Dallas, and Phillip of Benton, A.R.; their spouses, Mike, Cindy, Kathy, and Kay; sister, Mildred of California; 10 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
