Folk Singer, Songwriter. The three albums he produced during his lifetime were: "Five Leaves Left" (1969), "Bryter Layter" (1971) and "Pink Moon" (1972) while he was signed to Island Records. His song "Pink Moon" was used in a Volkswagen commercial. It is claimed that his death from an overdose of anti-depressants was a suicide. The Dream Academy song, "Life in a Northern Town" (1985) was written as a tribute to him.

The West side of the gravestone (i.e., facing East). The inscription is:

Now we rise
and we are everywhere

That is a line written by Nick Drake, from the song "From the Morning." It was the final track on "Pink Moon", which was the final record issued during his lifetime.
