Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was killed in action. He served as a Private in the Union Army in Company G, 148th New York Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on September 29, 1864 at Chapin's Farm, Virginia. His citation reads "Took position in advance of the skirmish line and drove the enemy's cannoneers from their guns; was mortally wounded."
