Dowager Countess of Carlisle

Only daughter of Edward Howard, 1st Baron Howard of Escrick, and the Honourable Mary Boteler. Paternal granddaughter of Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk, and Katherine Knyvett. Maternal granddaughter of John Boteler, 1st Baron Boteler of Brantfield, and Elizabeth Villiers.

Anne married her cousin Charles Howard, and became Countess of Carlisle when he was created a peer in 1661.

They were parents to six children, including the 2nd Earl of Carlisle and the Viscountess Preston.

Anne survived her husband by 18 years. She never remarried.
