U.S. Congressman. Moving to Kentucky, in 1845, he studied law, was admitted to bar and proceeded to practiced law in Allensville. He was a member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives (1851-53) and a member of the Kentucky State Senate, (1853-55). In 1867, he was elected as a Democrat to the Fortieth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Elijah Hise and reelected to the Forty-first Congress, serving until he resigned in 1870. After leaving Congress, he resumed his legal practice until his death at age 68. His younger brother Edward Golladay, was also a Congressman. Note: his grave headstone marker incorrectly displays his middle name.
