General Watson was a son of Smith & Charlotte (Carlton) Watson. General and his wife Nancy Ann (Greene) Watson were the parents of 10 children born in Deep Gap, North Carolina. Their son Arthel Lane Watson. better known as "DOC WATSON" was an American Legend. A section of the Route 421 between Boone and Wilkesboro was named after Doc and his son Eddy Merle Watson.
