GIBSON - Robert R. Gibson of Route 1, Veneta, passed away at a local hospital on September 2, 1956. He was a native of Lane County, the son of pioneer parents, Lewis D. and Sarah S. Crow Gibson who came west in 1849 and 1852, the family homestead was located on the land which is now the Fern Ridge Lake. They lived there continuously untilthe property was taken over by the government. Robert R. Gibson was born August 2, 1880, and was united in marriage to Rebecca Miles on March 21, 1911. The deceased was a member of the Elmira Church of Christ, and the Crow Grange. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Robert L. of Eugene, and Ralph M. of Tillamook; two sisters, Effie Mae Hartog of Anaheim, California and Lodema Matlock of San Mateo, California; a brother, John M. of Forest Grove; also three grandchildren. The funeral will be held at the Poole-Larswen Chapel on Thursday, September 6, 1965(sic), at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Oakhill Cemetery.
