She was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women. She earned her Master's Degree from Florida State University. She served with the Red Cross in Korea and later worked with the Red Cross and the YWCA in Asheville, North Carolina. She came to Jacksonville in 1965 to work with the Duval County School System. She first taught and coached at Southside Junior High and then taught physical education and coached girls' basketball at Fletcher High School, Jacksonville Beach. Her girls won the first Florida State Girls' Basketball Championship in 1976. She retired from the Duval County School System in 1998, becoming a volunteer with K9s For Warriors.
She was preceded in death by her good friend, Joe Click Scarborough and her brother Andrew Jackson Andy Reese, Jr.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016 in Quinn-Shalz Family Funeral Home with a Memorial Service following in the Chapel at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Wink Cherry officiating.
Inurnment will be at a later date in Tupelo, Mississippi.
