Known as the greatest living virtuoso of the concertina of his time, Raphael performed around the world including engagements with the King of England, President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Russian Czar. In 1934 Raphael appeared on the Broadway stage in 'Continental Varieties' with Lucienne Boyer and Escudero and his Spanish Dancers, among others. In 1946, Raphael's widow married comedy actor Stan Laurel in Yuma, Arizona.
