Ballerina. She was a Lithuanian-born British ballerina, whose family emigrated to the United States in 1940. Born the daughter of a ballet dancer, she was trained by her father, Nicolas Beriosoff. After debuting in 1947, she joined the Grand Ballet de Monte Carlo before relocating to England and joining the Sadler's Wells Ballet Company in 1950. She was appointed prima ballerina in 1955 and was with the Royal Ballet for twenty years. Her repertoire included traditional and modern pieces: "Trumpet Concert," "The Prince of the Pagodas," "Antigone," "Perséphone, Ondine," "Baiser de la fée," "Swan Lake," "The Sleeping Beauty," "Giselle," Coppelia," "Sylvia," and "Cinderella." She retired from the stage in 1975, but continued to teach ballet. She also made appearances in 1978 and 1980 in Maina Gielgud's "Steps, Notes and Squeaks." She married Masud Khan on January 23, 1959, and they divorced in 1974 as her stage career was declining.
