U.S. Congressman. During the Civil War, Black served in the Confederate Army. He was a member of the Georgia State House of Representatives (1873-1877) He was then elected as a U.S. Representative from Georgia in 1893. He served until resigning in 1895. In an unusual turn of events, after resigning, he was elected to replace himself, serving from 1895 to 1897. (bio by: Evening Blues)
