U.S. Congressman. Born the son of U.S. Congressman George Huddleston, Sr., he graduated from Birmingham Southern College in 1941 and served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, in the Pacific Theater, during World War II. After the war, he graduated from University of Alabama Law School, in 1948, was admitted to the bar and practiced law in Birmingham, Alabama. He also served as a Captain in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was deputy circuit solicitor for the tenth judicial circuit of Alabama (1948-49) and assistant U.S. Attorney for the northern district of Alabama (1949-52). In 1955, he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-fourth Congress and to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1965. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he joined North American Rockwell Corporation and was the firm's director of governmental affairs until his death.
