He was ordained as a Priest of Quebec on April 29, 1810, appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Quebec on February 28, 1834, ordained Bishop of Coadjutor Archbishop of Quebec on June 11, 1834, and succeeded Arhbishop of Quebec on October 3, 1850. He died on August 25, 1867, while still the Archbishop of Quebec.
