U.S. Congressman. He apprenticed as a newspaper printer and went on to be publisher of the McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Times. Entering politics, he was an unsuccessful candidate for nomination to Congress in 1946 and was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-first Congress in 1949, serving until 1951. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he engaged as a lecturer and book salesman, until his death.
