Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was served as a First Lieutenant in the Union Army in Company D, 8th New York Cavalry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on April 8, 1865 at Appomattox Station, Virginia. His citation reads "Capture of flag of 1st Texas Infantry (C.S.A.)."
