Webster V "Webb" Turbeville, 76, went to be with his Lord on Monday, November 21, 2011. He was born July 14, 1935, to Hillman and I V Turbeville, in Philipp, Mississippi. He had been a resident of Memphis and Millington for over 60 years. He graduated from Humes High School and served in the US Navy for four years. Along with his brother FF (Mann), Mr. Turbeville established Memphis Fence Company in 1971 and served as owner for 40 years. He was also instrumental in establishing six other companies during his business career. Mr. Turbeville was chaplain and a board member of Associated Builders and Contractors for 30 years. He was an active member of Associated General Contractors of West Tennessee and was instrumental in the formation of the Memphis Tri-State chapter of the American Fence Association. Considered a pioneer in the fence service industry, he was a man of character and principle, respected by his peers nationwide. He was once quoted as saying "his greatest accomplishment in business was knowing that his efforts made provision for his employees and their families." Mr. Turbeville was a long-time member at Speedway Terrace Baptist Church in Memphis, and was presently a member of First Baptist Millington, where he served as deacon and Sunday School teacher. Mr. Turbeville was a member of Gideons International. Webb was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Black Turbeville, three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Martha Holcombe Turbeville; two sisters: Claudia Wilson of Saulsbury, Tennessee and Jane Winters of Ogden, Utah; one brother, Francis Turbeville of Newbern, Tennessee; two daughters: Leigh Ann Porterfield of Memphis and Tracey Mott of Jackson, Tennessee; one son, Daniel W. Turbeville of Millington; two stepsons: Louis Black and Steve Mott; two stepdaughters: Nancy Shockley and Lisa Lawson; thirteen grandchildren and eight step grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Although we rejoice that he is in the Lord's presence, Webb will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. The funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, November 26 at First Baptist Church Millington, 5010 West Union Road. The family will receive visitors on Friday, November 25, from 5-8 and on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church Millington Harvest Fund or to Gideons International. Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel (Published in The Commercial Appeal on November 24, 2011)
