Thomas Farrow, first son of John Thomas and Rosanna Waters Farrow, born Feb. 5, 1755, in Prince William County, Virginia and died Dec. 31, 1843 in Spartanburg County, SC. Was a gallant Captain in the Revolutionary War in the regiment of his uncle, Colonel Philemon Waters. He enlisted in the Revolutionary War in Orange County, North Carolina in 1776. He was in many battles in both North and South Carolina, and was seriously wounded in the hip and back at the battle of Cowpens in Ninety-Six District on January 17, 1781; Captain Farrow was married three times: first to Miss Rebecca Ward; second to Miss Patience Rocelle; third to Mrs Anna Pattillo Harrison, the widow of Dr. Richard Harrison who figured prominently and gallantly during th Revoultion War in Virginia and the Carolinas.
After the death of his first wife, Captain Farrow married Miss Patience Rochelle, but she died leaving no children. He then married the widowed daughter of Rev. Henry Pattillo, D.D. and L.D. By his first wife five children born of this union: John Waters, Rebecca, Rosanna, Mary and Sarah; and his third wife, two children were born: Patillo and Nancy.
Revolutionary War Veteran. Husband of 1st wife, Rebecca Ward, 2nd wife, Patience Rochelle, 3rd wife, widow of Dr. Richard Harrison, Anna Pattillo Harrison, daughter of Rev. Henry Pattillo.
He was in the battles of Cowpens, Musgrove's Mill and many others.

In 1843 he accompanied his 90 year old father Thomas Farrow on horseback to visit Pattillo Farrow. The trip was from Mountain Shoals (now Enoree, SC). It was their last trip together.
2. Rebecca Farrow - born circa 1780 married a Mr. Smith, who died leaving three children; She then married Gabriel Styles and had three children.

"Rebecca married a Baptist minister by the name of Smith who became weary of life and suicided by cutting his throat with his razor. The widow after a satisfactory Proition (sic) in widowhood married Gabriel B. Styles. She became the mother of three children by each husband: Thomas F, Smith, John P. Smith, Caroline Smith, by her first husband. By her second husband Samuel F. Styles, Carey W. Styles and Louisa Styles. The first three are all dead, as is also the last of the second trio. Whether Samuel F. Styles and Carey W. Styles are living or dead I do not know. The former of these two if living is an old M. D. in the Lone Star State. Just here, I recall the fourth daughter of Thomas Farrow, whose Christian name I cannot recall to mind. Yes, her name was Mary who married John Dean and who raised as I remember three daughters and two sons all of who, together with herself and husband have been dead for many years. The younger of the sons was killed by a drunken man whom he was teasing; the killing occurred more than fifty years ago."
3. Rosanna Farrow - born 1782, married Caleb Woodruff. (Caleb Woodruff was killed near Mountain Shoals by two Negroes.
4. Mary Farrow - Born 1784 and married John Dean, they had 13 children. Known children of Mary Farrow and John Dean are: Mills Dean, who became a lawyer of distinction in Washington City. Hosea J Dean, born July 11, 1806. He held the office of Brigader-Major and was called Major Dean. At the age of 21, he entered the law office of Colonel Pattillo Farow at Lourens Court House and figured very prominently before the people during the middle of the 19th Century.

Born at a period when every faculty of the mind was called into action, he early acquired habits of decision and self reliance beyound his years. While his father, under General Rutherford, was striking for liberty, or engaged in repelling the attacks of hostile Indians he was left at home, the only protector of a numerous family, of which he was the eldest.While still very young, his parents emigrated to this district, where they lived and died, and where early in life he was united in marriage to Mary Farrow, eldest daughter of the Revolutionary Patriot, Capt. Thomas Farrow. Nearly fifty years have elapsed since they were both buried with Christ in Baptism, and more than twenty years since the beloved partner of his youth preceded him to a better state of existence, but the religion which he then professed failed not to be his support in the trials of a long life, and be rod and staff through the dark Valley of the Chamber of death. An upright man, just in his dealings, he brought no reproach upon the name of Christ by an unhallowed grasping after wealth, and though he has left no overgrown fortune to his many children and their descendants he has left a nobler inheritance, a name without fear and without reproach.Of his eleven sons and daughters who reached maturity nine survive him, and those who are absent, as well as to his brothers and sisters indistant States, it will be a consolation to know that he retained his faculties unimpaired, and that almost the last act of expiring consciousness was to breathe a prayer so full of imagery, exalted faith and devine resignation as to appear to those who heard it almost the language of inspiration. No struggle marked the close of a life that had been passed with Christian diginity and consistency, but calmly as an infant slumbers, he fell asleep in Jesus. Sept. 2, 1796, at the old homestead of his grandparents, John and Rosanna Waters Farrow, on the Enoree River in the old Ninety-Six District, now Spartanburg County, SC; graduated 1815 from South Carolina College, taking high distinction in his class. He studied law with Robert Creswell (a close personal friend of his Uncle Samuel Farrow) at Laurens Court House and was admitted to the bar at Columbia in 1818. He served as executor of his father's will which is on file in the Office of the Clerk of Court, Spartanburg, S.C. On January 2, 1826 he married Jane Strother James (she is a lineal descendnt of George Washington's family), daughter of Hon. Benjamin James of Laurens County, S.C. Pattillo and Jane (or Jean) Farrow were the Grandparents of one of Laurens County's most distinguished sons, Rear Admiral Samuel McGowan, U.S.N. Retired, b. Sept. 01, 1870 and d. Nov. 11, 1934 in Laurens, SC.
They were also the grandparents of Pattillo H. McGowan, a prominent newspaper man of Washington, DC; James Farrow McGowan; Jennie; Lavellette and Rosa McGowan.
They had three sons and four daughters: James, Anna Pattillo, Susan Washington, Thomas Stobo, Henry Pattillo, Rosanna Waters, and Julia Woodruff Farrow, who married Catain Homer Leonidas McGowan, a lawyer."
They had the following children: James, Anna Pattillo, Susan Washington, Thomas Stobo Farrow, born Oct. 12, 1832, and served in the Civil War as Captain, Major and Lt. Colonel in the 13th SC Regiment, Greggs Brigade, Jacksons Corps, Army of Northern Virginia and suffered a wound inthe Battle of Second Manassas. He was married twice and had four children, Henry Pattillo, Rosanna Waters, and Julia Woodruff Farrow.
2. Nancy Farrow - born 1798 married her first cousin, Dr. Samuel Farrow, son of Landon Farrow, and had eleven children. Married her first cousin, Samuel Farrow. Issue: eleven children, most of whom died before reaching adulthood.
Samuel Farrow was an eminently successfull physician at Laurens Court House, South Carolina, and then at Augusta, Georgia. He was at the head of his profession for many years. He died about 1844.
