PAUL SHINALL served in the U.S. Army during WWII (Pvt. 16, Inf I, Inf Div).
He was killed during the Invasion of Normandy, June 6, 1944. His body was brought home and buried at Center Baptist Church cemetery in Cartersville, Bartow County, GA.

Paul Shinall Killed During the Invasion
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Shinall, of Center community, were notified today of the death of their son, Paul Howard Shinall on the Normandy beachhead June 6th invasion day.
Young Shinall was about 19 years of age, having been in the service a little more than a year. He was in the infantry and held the badge of expert rifleman.
He has a number of brothers and sisters, none of whom are old enough for military service as yet. His father has been in the furniture business with Edgar Lewis on West Main Street for some time. The Shinall families are all well known in Bartow, having hosts of friends and relatives over this section of Georgia.

Paul's name appears on the Big Red 1 monument in Normandie, France, as well as the Bartow County, Georgia memorial honoring the citizens of that county who died in battle.
