World War II Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Private in the 13th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry. On November 4, 1915, near La Houssoie, France, Private Kenny was on a night patrol when his lead officer was wounded by German fire. Private Kenny, under repeated fire crawled more than an hour with his wounded officer on his back, trying to find his way through the fog to his own trenches. When he came to a ditch which he recognized, he placed the officer in it and went to look for help. He found his battalion post, secured a few men and after guiding them back, with their assistance the wounded officer was brought in. For most conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty, he was awarded the Victoria Cross Medal in March, 1916.
