Schilling began competing in beauty pageants and won titles such as, Miss Teen Palm Springs in 2001, competed for the United States during the Miss Earth Pageant for the title in the Philippines, and was the reigning Miss USA International in 2003. Schilling died at the age of 19 in a tragic car accident on November 27, 2003, in Palm Springs, California.
