World War I Victoria Cross Recipient. He was the son of Mrs. Lucy Boughey, of Yew Tree Farm, Hurleston, Nantwich, Cheshire. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 1/4th Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers, British Army. On December 1, 1917, 2nd Lieutenant Boughey's unit was attacked by the Ottoman Army at Palestine, Israel. When the enemy managed to crawl up to within yards of 2nd Lieutenant Boughey's firing line, he rushed forward alone with bombs to repel them. With great execution, he caused the surrender of a party of 30. As he turned to go back for more bombs, he was mortally wounded at the moment when the enemy were surrendering. He died three days later from his wounds. For most conspicuous bravery, he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross on February 12, 1918.
