An Oregon soldier killed in Iraq was buried Wednesday in the rolling countryside where he loved to hunt. Army Staff Sgt. Robert Anthony Stever, 36, died in Baghdad during an ambush on April 7. The tank mechanic served in the 3rd Infantry Division based in Fort Stewart, Ga. Stever was awarded a Silver Star and Cyndi Stever received the folded U.S. flag that had draped her husband's coffin.Besides Cyndi, Stever left behind his wife's 10-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

The Army Ordnance School marked the completion of the 2005 Base Closure and Realignment Commission projects at Fort Lee, Virginia, with the dedication of eight educational buildings and a dining facility on 15 September 2011. Each facility was named after a Soldier or Marine who made a significant contribution to the Ordnance Corps through innovation or leadership. Stever Hall is named after Staff Sergeant Robert A. Stever who was awarded the Silver Star posthumously in 2003 for his combat actions as a machinegunner on a convoy during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
