Louisa traveled from her home in Philadelphia to Washington D.C. to accompany her brother-in-law, John McGraw, home. John had been wounded in battle. Family oral history has it that the night before beginning their long trip home to Philly, Louisa and John attended the theater. The theater was Ford's Theater. John and Louisa were in the audience the night President Lincoln was shot.
From the Philadelphia Inquirer dated 28 Oct 1903:
MCGRAW--On October 25, 1903, LOUISE C. beloved wife of the late Michael McGraw. Relatives and friends are earnestly requested to attend funeral services, also Calvary Circle No. 92, G.A.R. at her late residence, 2211 W. Harold st. on Wednesday afternoon, at 3 o'clock. Interment at Mt Peace Cemetery. At rest.
