Her brother Irwin Boyd Ross' death certificate in Michigan in 1909 lists his mother's maiden name as Irwin.
Their mother was Mary Scott Irwin Ross, a granddaughter of John Boyd and Jane Holland from County Armagh, N. Ireland, and great-granddaughter of William Boyd and Margaret Lyons who landed at Charleston, S.C., Oct. 31, 1804 on the ship "Lady Washington" from Belfast, N. Ireland.
Boyd family letters give the address of Mary S. Boyd Ross on April 2, 1882, as 339 La Salle St., Chicago, Ill.
And on Feb. 18, 1885 as 415 N. State St., Chicago, Ill.
In the 1880 census, Mrs. Mary S. Ross was shown living with her daughter Matilda Clow at Number 339 N. La Salle St., Chicago. An 1888 voter registration list shows J.B. Clow and son C.R. Clow at 415 N. State Street.
