Mrs. Virginia Cooney Dunphy, born in Missoula, MT on July 3, 1912, died on Thursday at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her husband, a prominent local attorney, Charles H. Dunphy; and a son, Richard Boyd Dunphy. Mrs. Dunphy was the last surviving member of her family which settled in Montana when the area was still a territory. Her father was the Governor of Montana in 1935 and her grandfather, P.H. Poindexter was one of the first settlers in Montana. Mrs. Dunphy and her husband moved to Albuquerque in 1952. She was an alumna of Delta Gamma and a Daughter of the American Revolution. She is survived by three sons, Charles Dunphy Jr. and wife, Reiko of Yokohama, Japan, John Dunphy and wife, Marilyn of Albuquerque, and Edward Dunphy and wife, Janet of Los Gatos, CA; one daughter, Ann Becker and husband, Dan of Houston, TX; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
