Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Private in the Union Army in Company H, 115th New York Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on April 1, 1864 near Fort Gates, Florida. His citation reads "Was a volunteer in the surprise and capture of rhe enemy's picket."
