He was born in St. Paul and grew up in Erhard's Grove Township near Pelican Rapids, Minn., graduating from Pelican Rapids High School in 1941. He was a World War II Navy veteran. On Oct. 17, 1943, he married Margaret Gustafson in San Diego. The couple made their home in Erhard until 1956, then moved to Babbitt, where he was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Reserve Mining Co. for 28 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, VFW Post 1539, and American Legion Post 535, all of Babbitt.
His parents were Carl T. and Toline Ingvoldson Sundblad.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; three sons: Gary, Rodney, and Craig; a sister, Deloris Anderson; and six grandchildren.
Burial in Argo Cemetery in Babbitt.
